Member Covenant
Having been born again by the Spirit of God, drawn to faith and repentance in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptized by immersion, and led in God’s providence to join this local body, I now, relying on God’s grace, commit with one another as members of FaithPoint to function faithfully, as a member, in the following responsibilities:
Commitment to God’s purpose for my life:
I will seek to daily grow in my love for God and for others so that my life is a testimony to God’s glory. (Matt. 22:37-39)
Commitment to the authority of the Word of God:
I will seek to live a life of submission to the authority of Jesus Christ by seeking to increasingly understand God’s will and promises for my life as revealed through His Word. I embrace this church’s Statement of Faith as a trustworthy summary of biblical teaching. (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)
Commitment to the function of this local church:
I will seek to function as a faithful member of this local church by:
- faithfully knowing and obeying the “one another” passages of Scripture
- faithfully praying for the church’s spiritual health and unity, my fellow members, the pastors, the deacons, and the spread of the Gospel through this church (Acts 2:42; Jms. 5:17)
- faithfully assembling with the members of the body of believers in worship (Heb. 10:25)
- faithfully exercising my spiritual gifts in service to others (1 Cor. 12:4-31; 1 Pt. 4:10)
- faithfully giving and receiving admonition and instruction with meekness in love (2 Tim. 4:2; 1 Thess. 5:12-15)
Commitment to the responsibility of disciple-making:
I will actively seek to be obedient to my God-given responsibility of making disciples of Jesus in my relationships in the home, in the church, and in the world by teaching them Biblical truth so that they come to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior and commit to follow Him with their lives. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Commitment to living godly lives in this ungodly world:
I will seek to live a life that is exercising self-control so that my lifestyle exhibits both true Christian love and personal holiness as witness to the world of God’s transforming power. (Romans 12:1-2; Titus 2:11-15)
Commitment to joyful and sacrificial giving:
I will consistently contribute, as a good steward of God’s blessings, such time, abilities, and resources as God prospers me so that the spread of the Gospel through FaithPoint and to all nations may continue. (1 Cor. 16:2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7)
Commitment to local church membership when departing:
I will be careful, if I leave this local church, to unite with another church where I can carry out the spirit of this covenant in that church. (Acts 18:27; Romans 16:1-2)
